Everybody working on the site (workers, subcontractors, managers, owners, etc.) is required to participate in a basic hygiene training at least once a year. The purpose of this training is to teach the producer’s hygiene instructions and to raise awareness for why they need to be implemented.
Records containing the following information shall be kept (AF 3.3.1):
Inspectors are required to check whether the workers comply with the hygiene training and are competent to perform their duties according to the hygiene instructions. (AF 3.2.4)
If this has not be done by the subcontractor, the producer is responsible for conducting basic hygiene training for harvest workers working on the farm and must provide evidence for this hygiene training. This evidence must be available on the farm during the inspection.
If the hygiene training conducted by the subcontractor is sufficient and in line with the producer’s requirements, the producer is not required to conduct hygiene training as well, but he must keep proof of the training that has been conducted.
No, because this does not certify that all the workers were present on the day of the inspection. GLOBALG.A.P. requires evidence of attendance. If workers are illiterate, they may fingerprint their participation.
All workers, including owners and managers, must annually participate in the farm’s basic hygiene training.
There is no GLOBALG.A.P. requirement that the trainer for basic hygiene principles should attend additional training before conducting the training.
NOTE: However, producers are advised to also attend training related to good hygiene principles. Workers are required to demonstrate competence, and so it is good practice if the producer who conducts the training can also demonstrate competence.
