Prevention of GGN Misuse
Producers are required to have agreements with their direct customers (e.g. packers, importers, exporters) in place that clearly specify that their GGN will not be misused and that the customer will follow best practices in traceability and labeling.
These agreements shall stipulate the following:
- Direct customers are not permitted to label other producers’ products with the producer’s GGN.
- Direct customers are not permitted to mix the producer’s certified product with products from a non-certified origin and label these consignments with the producer’s GGN.
Question (QQAF056)
A GLOBALG.A.P. certified producer buys products from other GLOBALG.A.P. certified producers. He re-packs the product and labels the boxes with his GGN number. Is this allowed?
Question (QQAF057)
A producer packs produce for other GLOBALG.A.P. certified and non-certified producers as well. In minor instances, he mixes certified produce with non-certified produce (less than 5%) to make up the volumes. He then labels these with the GGN as supplied by the producer for the certified produce. Is this allowed?
